CM directs officials to prioritise formation of Yatra authority

A few days after the formal closure of the Char Dham Yatra, the State government is already focusing on next year’s pilgrimage season. Stating that the Char Dham Yatra is the backbone of the State’s economy, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to work on formation of the Yatra authority on a priority basis while also starting preparations for next year’s pilgrimage season. He also directed the officials to ensure proper arrangements for the National Games to be held in Uttarakhand. Dhami said this while chairing a meeting with officials here on Thursday.
The CM stressed on formation of the Char Dham Yatra authority to further boost the pilgrimage and facilitate it in a more systematic manner. He told officials to seek the suggestions of all the stakeholders in this matter. The website of the Tourism department should be enhanced for the convenience of pilgrims and tourists arriving from outside the State so that they are able to access all necessary information online. Dhami said that the main roads damaged due to disaster and internal routes should be repaired on priority basis so that the people do not continue to face inconvenience.
Referring to the preparations for the National Games to be held in the State, the CM directed officials to accord various responsibilities to secretaries. He further directed that weekly meetings should be chaired by the chief secretary and necessary action should be taken for ensuring proper and timely arrangements for the National Games. Stating that hosting of the National Games is very important for Uttarakhand, he stressed that the officials should ensure proper arrangements are made on time for this event.
