Sports minister Rekha Arya stated that the confusion surrounding the extended dates for the 38th National Games will be resolved soon following a discussion with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. She said this in response to various reports suggesting that the dates for the National Games have been postponed from January 28 to February 15.
Recently, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had confirmed that the games would be held in Uttarakhand starting January 28. However, some reports are indicating a possible extension of the event dates. Considering this, Arya convened a meeting with officials from the Uttarakhand Olympic Association to discuss the organisation of the National Games.
Addressing the reports about the proposed amendment of the schedule, she said that there has been a request for such changes from some sports federations. The upcoming Asian Winter Games in China, which many athletes are preparing for, is also influencing this situation. Arya emphasised that this matter will be discussed in detail with the CM and clarity on the situation will be provided after their meeting.
