To mark the Armed Forces Flag Day, the director, Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation, Brigadier Amrit Lal (retd) met the Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) at Raj Bhavan on Saturday and hoisted the flag. The Governor while welcoming the Brigadier sought information about the status of the Sainik Welfare Boards operating in the State. He said that this day is important for Uttarakhand because the people of the State contributed a lot to the army, adding that the number of ex-servicemen in Uttarakhand is high. “It is, therefore, the duty of the people here to help their families,” he said.
Among those present on the occasion were the deputy director Sainik Welfare and Rehabilitation Colonel M S Jodha (retd) and Subedar Major M L Bhatt.
