Home Guards discharging key responsibilities: CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the organization of Home Guards is working actively for social security and maintaining law and order in the State. He was addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the foundation day of the Home Guards after reviewing the ceremonial parade at Nanurkheda, Dehradun on Saturday. 

He said that the Home Guards are ready to fulfill their responsibilities in every situation and they play an important role in maintaining law and order, controlling traffic and during religious events such as Chardham Yatra, Kumbh Mela and Kanwad Yatra.

The CM announced that the volunteers of the Home Guards deployed at an altitude of more than 9,000 feet will be given an additional incentive of Rs 200 per day like the personnel of State Police and SDRF. He said that the Home Guards deployed with SDRF personnel will get an incentive of Rs 100 per day. The CM also said that the uniform allowance given to the Home Guard personnel will now be given every year. He said that the ex-gratia amount given to every Home Guard on attaining the superannuation age of 60 years from the Home Guards welfare fund will be increased by Rs 50,000.

The CM said that the State government has taken several decisions for the welfare of the Home Guards.  He said that a state of the art indoor firing range is being constructed in Premnagar, Dehradun, which will benefit our Home Guards in arms training.  The CM said that the facility of CSD canteen has also been started for the Home Guards. He said that the State government has also taken the decision to provide maternity leave to women Home Guards.

In the programme, the CM handed over scholarship cheques to the meritorious children of Home Guards. He also released the Souvenir 2024 and departmental calendar 2025 of Home Guards and Civil Defense department on the occasion.

Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Rajpur MLA Khajan Das, former Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, secretary Shailesh Bagoli, director general police Deepam Seth, commandant general Home Guards  PVK Prasad and others attended the programme.
