With Raj Bhawan having given its assent to the OBC reservation in the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) ordinance promulgated by the State government, decks have been cleared for the long-held up ULB polls. Sources said that the required notification for the polls may be issued soon, maybe at the end of this month. Now, OBC reservation will be implemented according to the report sent by the single-member dedicated commission.
The Raj Bhawan green-lighted the ordinance after the State law department had sent its legal opinion, suggesting to the Governor’s office that it could give its assent to the ordinance.
