The State government will launch five key symbols on December 15 to promote the 38th National Games which is scheduled to start on January 28. These symbols include the logo, anthem, mascot, torch and jersey, as announced by Sports minister Rekha Arya during a Press conference on Thursday.
Arya said that a recent meeting was held under the guidance of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, where directives were given to the officials regarding the organisation of the National Games. Dhami shared details about the upcoming launch programme.
She added that on December 15, the launching programme for the National Games will take place, featuring the introduction of the jersey, logo, mascot, torch lighting and anthem. The jersey will represent the colours of Uttarakhand, which will be worn by the State’s athletes during the games. Additionally, the anthem is intended to promote the event nationwide, along with the other three symbols. She further stated that she recently visited New Delhi to invite Union Sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya to the launch. Additionally, the president of the Indian Olympic Association, PT Usha, has also been invited. Arya said that 36 games have been selected—32 of which are core games for the event, while four are demonstration games. Considering this, she has asked the IOA president to include the demonstration games in the list of the main core games. She also added that the construction work related to the National
Games will be completed by the end of December. Further, Uttarakhand will be the first State to host all events of the National Games within its borders, she added.
