Provisional notification on reservation in positions of ULB heads released

The State administration released the provisional notification for reservation of positions of mayors of municipal corporations and heads of municipal councils and Nagar Panchayats on Saturday. Out of the 11 municipal corporations in Uttarakhand, the mayoral positions in six are proposed to be reserved for various categories, according to the provisional notification.
As per the notification, among the mayoral positions in municipal corporations, the posts in Municipal Corporation of Dehradun, Municipal Corporation of Kotdwar, Municipal Corporation of Srinagar, Municipal Corporation of Rudrapur and Municipal Corporation of Kashipur has been kept unreserved. The mayoral position in Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh has been reserved for Scheduled Caste, while it has been reserved for Other Backward Class (Woman) in the Municipal Corporation of Haridwar. The position has been reserved for a woman candidate in the Municipal Corporation of Roorkee and for an OBC candidate in the Municipal Corporation of Haldwani. The mayoral positions have been reserved for women in the Municipal Corporation of Pithoragarh and the Municipal Corporation of Almora.
When it comes to the 43 municipal councils, the provisional notification proposes reservation of the chairperson’s posts for Scheduled Tribe in Vikasnagar, for SC in Laksar, Chinyalisaud, Karnprayag (Woman), Bageshwar, Nainital and Kaladhungi (Woman). Similarly, the positions have been reserved for OBC in Mussoorie (Woman), Herbertpur, Manglaur, Badkot, Chamba (Woman), Tanakpur, Bhimtal (Woman), Jaspur, Bazpur, Mahuakhedaganj and Nagla (Woman). The position in Doiwala, Shivaliknagar, Gopeshwar, Gopeshwar, Tehri, Munikireti-Dhalwala, Rudraprayag, Dugadda, Dharchula, Didihat, Gangolihat, Lohaghat, Ranikhet-Chiniyanaula, Ramnagar is unreserved while in Khatima it is general.
Among the Nagar Panchayats, the position is reserved for OBC candidates in Selaqui, Landhaura, Imlikheda, Padli Gujjar, Rampur, Sultanpur-Adampur, Tapovan (Woman), Tilwada (Woman), Chaukhutiya (Woman), Lalkuan (Woman), Mahuadabra, Sultanpur Patti, Kelakheda, Shaktigarh (Woman), Nanakmatta and Gularbhoj (Woman). The positions have been reserved for women in Lalpur, Dwarahat, Thalisain, Swargashram, Ukhimath, Nandanagar, Pipalkoti and Naugaon. The positions are unreserved in Jhabreda, Bhagwanpur, Piran Kaliyar, Nandprayag, Gairsain, Tharali, Kirtinagar, Ghansali, Gaja, Lambgaon, Chamiyala, Agastyamuni, Satpuli, Kapkot and Dineshpur. The positions have been reserved for ST candidates in Munsyari, for SC candidates in Garud, Banbasa, Guptkashi (Woman) and Dhandera.
Any suggestions or objections regarding the proposed reservation must be submitted to the authorities within seven days.
