Bhatt warns of disciplinary action against those raising ULB reservation issue outside party forum

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt has suggested that objections to the Urban Local Body reservations should be raised with the Urban Development department. He also warned that those raising the issue in public instead of doing so in the party forum will face disciplinary action. Bhatt’s statement comes after senior party leader and MLA Munna Singh Chauhan objected to Vikasnagar municipal council chief’s post being reserved for a Scheduled Tribe candidate while local BJP and Congress leaders objected to the Mussoorie municipal council chief’s post being reserved for an Other Backward Class woman candidate.
Bhatt said that the State government has followed all procedures while proposing the reservation in ULB posts. “Everybody has a right to opine in a democracy so if anyone has any objection, the proper arrangement has been set in place for that. Suggestions or objections should be lodged with the Urban Development department as per the set procedure. A decision will be taken by the authorities after detailed deliberations on the suggestions and objections. In such a situation, it is improper to make statements simply to grab media headlines or spread confusion,” Bhatt said.
The BJP State president clarified that the party members who have objections to the reservation proposed by the government can follow the due procedure. They can also communicate their issues to the party office bearers deputed to the ULB polls. However, raising such issues in the public instead of first approaching the party forum will be considered an act of indiscipline. Bhatt warned that all the party members who indulge in such actions will face disciplinary action.
