The executing agency is ready to transfer the dental wing to the hospital administration at the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital within the next two to three days. Stating this, the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr VS Chauhan said that there has been a long-standing plan to move the dental wing from the Deen Dayal Upadhyay district hospital to the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital. The proposal for this transfer has already been submitted to the appropriate authorities.
Additionally, Chauhan noted that the plan for the new dental wing at the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital received approval some time ago. In light of this approval, the executing agency began work on the wing just after that. He further added that the executing agency has recently completed the work on the dental wing and is now ready to hand it over to the hospital administration within the specified timeframe of two to three days.
He stated that once the agency hands over the dental wing to the hospital administration, the hospital administration will draft a letter to inform the Health department. Consequently, the department will oversee the issuance of instruments and the latest technology for the newly constructed dental wing at the hospital. It is anticipated that the installation process for the instruments and infrastructure will require some time, with operations expected to commence within two to three months, he said.
He further emphasised that this will be the first dental wing equipped with the latest technology in the State. The objective of relocating the dental wing from the district hospital to the Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital is to enhance the patient service delivery system. The district hospital currently faces limitations in space, making the operation of the dental wing unfeasible. This relocation will significantly improve the facilities available to patients, he said.
It will be recalled that earlier Chauhan had stated that officials plan to recruit staff, including dental surgeons, in accordance with Indian Public Standards following the completion of the new wing’s construction. Currently, four doctors are providing services at the dental wing of the district hospital, comprising two permanent doctors and two on a contractual basis. With the development of the advanced dental wing at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital, it is anticipated that the number of doctor positions will increase.
