With tourist influx gaining momentum ahead of the New Year celebration in Nainital, the Kumaon commissioner Deepak Rawat who is also the secretary to the chief minister directed the sub-divisional magistrates and transport, excise and police officers to jointly conduct regular checking drives in their jurisdictional limits to stop drunk driving which often ends up in accidents. He stressed on laying pickets on roads at regular intervals to check drunk driving.
