Elderly couple trampled to death by elephant in Dehradun

An elderly couple lost their lives after being reportedly attacked by an elephant while collecting firewood and grass in the forest near Jollygrant, Doiwala in Dehradun district. The deceased were identified as 70-year-old Rakesh Panwar and his 65-year-old wife Sushil Pawar.

According to the officials, the couple was suddenly attacked by an elephant which threw them to the ground, leading to their tragic deaths. Upon hearing the news, nearby villagers rushed to the spot followed by the police. With the help of the villagers and the police, the bodies of the couple were brought to the edge of the forest road, as per the officials. They informed that a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) also arrived at the spot who transferred the bodies to an ambulance.

The bodies were then taken to the Himalayan Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. The authorities concerned are investigating the matter, the officials added
