The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a drug trafficker Ravindra Singh, a Delhi resident, who had been on the run for 11 years but still ran a drug network in multiple states, as per the senior superintendent of police of STF Navneet Singh Bhullar.

Singh, a 50,000-rupee reward fugitive, was apprehended late on Wednesday near the Nepal border in the Motihari district of Bihar, Bhullar said. The arrest followed an investigation into an NDPS case registered at the Kathgodam police station in Nainital in 2013, where the accused was reportedly involved in the trafficking of over 6.6 kilogrammes of charas along with his accomplice Pradeep. After securing bail, Singh disappeared and failed to appear in court, prompting the issuance of a warrant for his arrest, as per Bhullar. He said that despite extensive efforts by authorities to capture him, Singh had reportedly established permanent residences in Nepal and Bihar, where he continued his illegal activities. He used his properties to run a drug supply network that spanned across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand. An STF team, under the leadership of inspector Abul Kalam, gathered manual intelligence and discovered Singh’s whereabouts in the Nepalese town of Parwanipur, where he had settled. The SSP said that Singh revealed during interrogation that he had reportedly built a large drug network, distributing charas across various states. The STF has gathered vital leads from his confession and further investigations are underway to apprehend other members of his syndicate. Singh’s criminal history also includes previous arrests for counterfeit currency related offenses, he said.
