The Bharatiya Janata Party is gearing up to leverage the popularity and influence of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath to woo voters ahead of ensuing Urban Local Bodies elections in Uttarakhand. He is set to visit the State next week to campaign for the BJP candidates in the elections. The UP CM, a key campaigner for BJP, enjoys significant popularity among the people of Uttarakhand and the party plans to capitalise on his influence to the fullest.
The BJP State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan told The Pioneer that Adityanath will address rallies in support of the party’s candidates in the municipal corporations of Rishikesh, Roorkee and Haldwani. The BJP aims to bolster its presence in Uttarakhand through high-profile campaigns led by its prominent leaders as it seeks to secure victories in the ULB elections. The BJP released the list of star campaigners for the ULB elections on Wednesday. Alongside Adityanath, the list includes BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP national general secretary Dushyant Gautam, national vice president Rekha Verma and Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta.
Chauhan stated that the party is currently coordinating with the star campaigners to finalise their schedules. “The BJP will complete all preparations this week and issue the campaign schedule of the star campaigners. The campaigns will begin next week,” he said. Regarding Adityanath’s itinerary, Chauhan informed that efforts are underway to confirm the dates of his visit. “As of now, the UP CM is expected to campaign in Rishikesh, Roorkee and Haldwani. He will address meetings in these cities but further campaign locations might be added in the coming days. Other star campaigners will also start campaigning from next week,” Chauhan added.
