The Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal has called upon residents to actively participate in source segregation of waste as part of the city’s door-to-door garbage collection initiative. Aiming to achieve 100 per cent source segregation, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has commenced its efforts in ward number 53 Mata Mandir Marg as the first phase of the project.

Bansal conducted an inspection of the source segregation process in the ward on Friday. During the inspection, she emphasised the need for public cooperation to transform Dehradun into a cleaner and more beautiful city, on par with other developed urban centers in the country.

She also emphasised on the importance of community involvement in the Swachh Doon-Sundar Doon vision, urging residents to actively support the municipal corporation’s efforts in maintaining cleanliness and improving waste management practices. She stated that MCD plans to extend the initiative to other wards in the coming months to ensure a sustainable and systematic approach to waste management across the city.
