Pantnagar University celebrates National Youth Day

To mark the National Youth Day commemorating the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology hosted its 20th National Youth Seminar christened ‘Manthan’ under the National Youth Awareness Festival.  The theme of the seminar was building a young India inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.   The vice- chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan inaugurated it in the presence of Padma Shri J.K. Bajaj, who was the chief guest and other dignitaries.

The 20th Youth Awareness Festival started with a youth rally in which along with the students of the university, scholars, students and teachers from various universities of the country participated.

Bajaj in his address said that the time had come when all should make full use of the technology to realise the dream of a developed India by 2047, adding that the vision of Swami Vivekananda is the fundamental pillar for the Developed India.

The VC exhorted the youth to keep the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in their hearts and move forward for the welfare of the nation.  Along with education, character development is essential, he added. He also recalled the university’s role in freeing the country from food crisis through ushering in of Green Revolution.
