Veterans Day an occasion to remember sacrifice of our soldiers: Governor

 The governor Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh has said that the tri-services Veterans Day is the occasion to remember the highest sacrifice given by the nation’s soldiers. He said that the day also inspires the citizens to work dedicatedly and untiringly for safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.

On the occasion of the 9th Veterans Day, the governor visited the Shaurya Sthal in Garhi cantonment. In the programme the governor also offered floral tributes to the martyrs. He also met the armed forces veterans and also reviewed the parade of the veterans which was organised for the first time on the occasion.

Congratulating the armed forces personnel of the three wings and their families, the governor said that the veterans have dedicated their entire life for protecting the country and nation building. He said that the enthusiasm of the veterans is an inspiration for the character building and serving the nation. In the programme the governor felicitated 17 Veer Naris and 10 veterans.

The Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi, Indian Military Academy commandant lieutenant general Sandip Jain, deputy General officer Commanding (GoC)  Uttarakhand sub-area brigadier Sanjog Negi, rear admiral Piyush Pavasi, air commodore Neeraj Sharma, lieutenant general (retd) VK Mishra and others attended the programme.
