Three additional EV charging stations approved, to be activated by January 31 in Doon

Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal approved three additional electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on Thursday. During a review meeting, the DM emphasised the timely completion of the EV charging station project in Dehradun which aims to promote eco-friendly transportation and reduce pollution levels in the district. The approval of these three EV charging stations came alongside the proposal for four additional EV stations on the national highway, which has been sent to NH North for the necessary No Objection Certificate.

The DM said that the recently opened EV charging stations in Dehradun has received an overwhelmingly positive response from residents and tourists alike, as it promises to improve the infrastructure for EV users in the area. The DM instructed municipal officials to expedite the setup process for the newly approved stations and ensure they are fully operational by January 31. Talking about the project’s significance, Bansal stated that this is the first time an EV charging project of this scale has been introduced in the district. He noted its critical role in environmental protection and pollution control. He directed the agency concerned for the project to execute the work with utmost seriousness while departmental officials were directed to coordinate efforts, monitor progress and provide the necessary support to ensure timely completion.

Bansal also stressed the importance of publicising the EV charging stations and the related app through various mediums. He also instructed officials to utilise the disaster control room and municipal corporation dashboard for effective monitoring. According to him, the EV charging station initiative marks a breakthrough in the capital’s transportation infrastructure, addressing both local and tourist needs.

The meeting was attended by several officials including Dehradun municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, deputy municipal commissioner Gopal Ram Binwal, executive engineer from the Public Works Department (PWD), Shri Parmar, representatives from the EV company and officers from the Smart City project. The DM said that the collective efforts of these officers and agencies are expected to bring the project to fruition and establish Dehradun as a leader in sustainable transportation initiatives.
