In latest news from Uttarakhand, the returning officers for Haldwani civic body poll have issued notices to two contenders for the mayoral post and 30 contestants for the councillors’ posts for their failure to submit their expense details to the State Election Commission as per the rules. They further said that despite the notice, if they fail to submit their expense details the EC may cancel their election. Besides, the official permission for contesting the elections issued to them by the administration and the EC might be withdrawn, they said, adding that while the maximum spending limit for a contender for mayoral post is Rs 30 lakh the same for those contesting to be councillors is Rs 3 lakh.
