Light rain forecast in three districts, snowfall likely in higher reaches

Dehradun and various other parts of the State continued to witness warmer weather on Sunday. Meanwhile, the State Meteorological Centre has forecast very light to light rain likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Monday with dry weather likely to prevail in the remaining districts. The centre also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of moderate to dense fog likely to occur over a few places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Apart from this, snowfall is likely in some mountainous regions of the State in the coming days. It has been forecast that light to moderate snowfall is likely on January 20 and 21 in areas located at altitudes of 3,500 metres and above, in areas located at altitudes of 3,000 metres and above on January 22 and in areas located at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above on January 23.
On Monday, the provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with mist/shallow fog likely in the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 24 degrees Celsius and 11 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in the State on Sunday were 23.6 degrees Celsius and 10.5 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.1 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20 degrees Celsius and 8.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum and minimum temperatures were both four degrees Celsius above normal in Dehradun while the maximum was four degrees and the minimum was two degrees above in Pantnagar. The maximum was nine degrees above normal while the minimum was six degrees above normal in Mukteshwar. Similarly, the maximum was seven degrees above normal and the minimum was five degrees above normal in New Tehri.
