Dhami cabinet endorses UCC regulations

In a significant decision which puts Uttarakhand just one step away from implementation of Uniform Civil Code ( UCC), the cabinet of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami endorsed the draft of the regulations for the UCC in the State on Monday.

The State government took the permission of the State Election Commission ( SEC) for holding the cabinet meeting since the model code of conduct ( MCC) is enforced in the State in view of ensuing elections of the Urban Local Bodies in the State.

The cabinet decision on UCC regulations draft shows that the CM Dhami is eager to fulfill his promise on the implementation of the UCC in the month of January. It is very likely that the UCC is implemented in the State from the Republic Day (January 26).
