Sports minister Rekha Arya informed that about 7,000 players have been informed about the arrangements including food, transport and other facilities for the 38th National Games which will take place in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14. She said this while chairing a review meeting with on Tuesday.

Arya discussed the preparations for transport, food, accommodation and other facilities for the players and supporting staff. She asked the electricity department to ensure uninterrupted power supply at all venues. Additionally, she enquired about the waste management plans to be implemented daily at the venues. Arya expressed her commitment to ensuring that every player coming from other States feels that their arrangements are personally managed in Uttarakhand. She said that in line with her directives, a control room has been set up to contact every selected player via phone, and so far, around 7,000 players have been reached. Special food arrangements are being made to cater to the preferences of players from different states, she said.

The Sports minister further said that district sports officials will be responsible for all arrangements and must coordinate with all relevant departments. She stated that if any organisational flaws are identified, the District Sports Officer (DSO) will be held accountable and may face strict consequences. Arya also said that all DSOs should feel free to contact her directly at any time until the conclusion of the National Games, as the priority is to ensure that tasks are completed correctly and on time.

“During the meeting, it was also decided that a cardiologist must be present at the venues for four games—powerlifting, swimming, rugby and boxing—along with a physiotherapist and a general doctor. This requirement is due to the potential risk of serious injuries or heart issues in these events,” Arya said.

She also directed officials to maintain coordination with government hospitals, military hospitals or private hospitals to ensure the availability of a cardiologist at all times.
