Police brass defines role regarding UCC implementation

In latest news from Doon, the nuances of the upcoming Uniform Civil Code were discussed threadbare at a workshop held at the auditorium of the police headquarters.  A number of senior police officials along with those heading the social welfare organisations and eminent citizens from across the communities participated in it.  They spoke at length on the finer points of the code which is about to be implemented in the State. They also offered their suggestions on how to make the code more effective while closing the loopholes.

The assistant inspector general (AIG) of police Nivedita Kukreti discussed in details the provisions of marriage, divorce and the mandatory registration of live- in relationship included in UCC among others. Also, she threw light on the proposed penalty the UCC violators would face. DGP Deepam Seth dwelt on the duty of the police regarding the UCC implementation, particularly the provisions of penalty for UCC violation.
