Basketball 5×5 league commences in 38th National Games

The basketball 5×5 league matches commenced under the 38th National Games in Dehradun on Tuesday. Officials informed that the men’s basketball matches were divided into two groups- A and B. In group A, Tamil Nadu went up against the Services team in an intense match. Tamil Nadu secured victory and ended the game at 76-69. The top scorer for Tamil Nadu team was Lokeshwaran Mohan, who scored 16 goals, while Sahil led the Services team with 22 goals.
In group B, Delhi went up against Madhya Pradesh in a high-energy game on Court one. Delhi’s superior coordination and scoring power allowed them to dominate the match, winning by a substantial margin of 116-61. Delhi’s captain, Vishesh Bhriguvanshi, emerged as the top scorer with 17 goals, while Anmol Sharma led Madhya Pradesh with 15 goals, the officials added.
The officials further added that on the first day of the women’s basketball 5×5 league matches, teams were also divided into groups A and B. In group A, the host team Uttarakhand faced Punjab with Punjab emerging as the victor with a score of 96-54. The top scorer for Punjab was Komalpreet Kaur, who scored 28 goals, while Uttarakhand’s Anju contributed 27 goals. In group B, Chhattisgarh competed against Delhi. In this match, Delhi defeated Chhattisgarh with a score of 76-75. Delhi’s Simran Kaur was the top scorer with 23 goals, while D Kirti led Chhattisgarh, scoring the highest for her team.
