As per the complaint, five players from the Uttarakhand team have not met the eligibility criteria set by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).  The Telangana team played their match under protest and asked for the nullification of the match result along with disqualification of the Uttarakhand team in accordance with the rules, said Kumar in a letter to the director of competition, Beach Handball, 38th National Games.

He further said that the Uttarakhand team manager had been informed of the complaint and directed to submit documents confirming the eligibility of the players under question by January 28.

Subsequently, a letter was sent to authority of this competition, urging it to consider the applicable IOA regulations and the Rules of the Game for Beach Handball and explain why the Uttarakhand team should not be disqualified from the competition and also why the match should not be nullified according to the established rules,” the letter reads, adding that the Jharkhand team manager had also submitted a complaint.

Notably, on the inaugural day of the competition on January 27, the Uttarakhand team had beaten the Telangana team in the beach handball competition with scores of 17-6 and 19-12.
