Expressing happiness at the implementation of the uniform civil code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, the senior BJP leader Ravindra Jugran has said that the State also needs a strong land law ( Bhoo Kanoon). He said that the public opinion in the State is in favour of an early enactment of a strong land law.
The BJP leader said that Uttarakhand is a strategically important Himalayan State which shares its boundary with China. In absence of a strong land law, thousands of acres of land in the State has been purchased by capitalists and the rich in the last three decades. Jugran added that in absence of strong laws, the locals have sold their lands to outsiders and now they have become servants. They are now feeling deceived by the outsiders.
The BJP leader said that though the State government is working on a plan to bring a stringent land law, the patience of the people of the State is running out.
