The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) will install smart LED screens in government schools in Dehradun as part of the district administration’s Project Utkarsh. The administration has submitted a proposal for Rs three crore to HUDCO which is in its final stage of approval, the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal said.
He informed that once sanctioned, this funding will be utilised to integrate advanced digital learning tools into classrooms, ensuring that students in government schools, including those in remote areas, have access to modern educational facilities. He said that alongside HUDCO, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has also extended significant support to the initiative. The ONGC has already approved Rs 1.5 crore from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund for the 2024-25 financial year and has granted clearance for additional funding in the 2025-26 financial year. The involvement of both HUDCO and ONGC will help the administration in transforming public education infrastructure in the district, he said.
Bansal said that the Project Utkarsh aims to enhance school infrastructure by providing proper furniture, smart classrooms and improved sports facilities. Apart from digital advancements, schools will also receive essential amenities such as whiteboards, two LED lights per classroom, furniture, and outdoor sports facilities. The DM said that to ensure proper fund utilisation, the administration has set Rs one crore aside for the chief education officer. The DM has also invited social organisations and corporate houses to contribute to the initiative, encouraging collective participation in improving the region’s educational institutions.
Bansal said that with these comprehensive efforts, the administration aims to create a future-ready educational environment in Dehradun’s government schools, ensuring that students receive not only quality education but also the necessary infrastructure and resources to support their overall development.
