In latest news from Doon, the independent MLA from Khanpur Umesh Kumar who had got embroiled in a violent brawl with his predecessor Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ was detained by Doiwala police as he was on his way to attend the Brahmin samaj congregation slated at Laksar in Haridwar district. Kumar dubbed the detention wrong and urged his followers to remain calm, calling the altercation as one between two individuals which should not escalate into a group fight.
The police had been on an alert mode and was determined to foil the MLA’s bid to reach Laksar to attend the meeting he had called in the aftermath of the brawl, fearing that his presence might spark fresh tension. Kumar further said he would fight the matter by the legal means. “I abide by laws,” he added.
