To improve the available facilities at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital for the Asha workers, the newly established Asha Ghar has started operating. Informing this, the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr V S Chauhan said that in accordance with the directives of the State Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat, he had inaugurated the Asha Ghar located on the ground floor of the hospital. He further informed that the Asha Ghar has been initially equipped with six beds with an attached washroom.
The primary purpose of establishing the Asha Ghar at the hospital is to address the challenges faced by Asha workers, who accompany the women with labour pain, particularly during the night hours, in finding suitable places to rest or sit. To alleviate the stress experienced by Asha workers, the State Health authorities had taken the decision to establish an Asha Ghar in every government hospital across the State, he said.
To recall, the State Health minister had initiated the move to set up Asha Ghar facilities at the State-run medical facilities. He further assured that Asha Ghar would be shortly set up at the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC).
