Kits distributed among Pashu Sakhis under REAP

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the chief development officer, Tehri district, Abhishek Tripathi distributed kits among the trained Pashu Sakhis(community health workers who advise the farmers on how to take care of their livestock) under the Gramothan Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP) a programme held in New Tehri. The district project manager REAP informed that 28 trained Pashu Sakhis have been prepared under the project in the district who would provide services like first aid to animals, animal feed management animal health management and animal vaccination as well as animal insurance, animal census and milk recording among others under the supervision of the veterinary officers of the Animal Husbandry department. For the services being provided, Pashu Sakhis will be provided Rs 2500 in the form of stipend for a minimum period of 12 months under the project.
The chief veterinary officer D K Sharma said that currently animal census, vaccination and animal insurance are being done by the trained Pashu Sakhis under the supervision of veterinary officers working at the block level.
