The newly elected chairman of Gairsain Nagar Panchayat, Mohan Bhandari has decided not to sit on the official chair of the municipal body till the administration appoints a permanent Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the State’s summer capital Gairsain. Bhandari who took the oath of the chairperson of the Nagar Panchayat on Thursday said that the State government should appoint a permanent SDM and Tehsildar in Gairsain town.
Bhandari told The Pioneer that he has decided to sit on a stool near the official chair of the chairperson till the permanent appointments on these two key administrative positions are made. He said that the SDM Karnprayag is also officiating as the SDM of Gairsain and similarly the post of Tehsildar of the area is also vacant. Bhandari said that Gairsain was declared the summer capital of the State but unfortunately the town is still suffering from official apathy.
He said that the government had decided to construct a lake near Maroda to resolve drinking water problems of the town but the lake is still limited to official files. Bhandari said that the local Community Health Centre (CHC) of Gairsain is suffering from lack of doctors and other staff. He said that the government should immediately appoint a gynaecologist in the CHC and provide the ultrasound facility here.
