U’khand wins five medals in taekwondo at National Games

Uttarakhand players secured five medals on the first day of taekwondo bouts at the 38th National Games. According to officials, the taekwondo competitions began in Haldwani. They said that the players from Uttarakhand made a notable impact by performing effectively across various categories. They highlighted that the athletes showcased their talent and demonstrated that taekwondo is rapidly advancing in Uttarakhand.
The officials said that in the thrilling Kyorugi competitions on the first day, participants displayed their agility, strength and technique, competing intensely for medals. In the women’s Kyorugi events, Tavisha Kakadiya from Gujarat won the gold medal in the under-46 kg category, while Vishakha Sah from Uttarakhand claimed the silver. In the under-57 kg category, Pooja from Uttarakhand excelled and won the gold medal, with Shivani Lala Bhilare from Maharashtra taking home the silver. In the under-73 kg category, Itisha Das from Chandigarh earned the gold medal, while Payam Harshpradha from Telangana secured the silver, they added.
The officials further said that the men’s Kyorugi competitions were equally exciting. Ankit Mer of Services won the gold medal in the under-54 kg category and Naveen from Services also took gold in the under-68 kg category. The final match in the under-87 kg category was particularly thrilling, with Shashank Singh Patel from Services emerging victorious and winning the gold medal. They said that as the competition continues, more exciting matches are anticipated in the coming days.
