Taking cognizance of recent utterances and voices of dissent aired by some leaders of the State, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has directed the party leaders to refrain from giving such statements.
In a letter directed to all senior leaders of the State and members of district, Mahanagar and block committees, Mahara said he has observed that instead of putting their suggestions in the party forum some senior leaders of the party are engaged in making comments and giving statements in electronic, print and social media platforms. He added that this is denting the image of the party and its future prospects. He suggested that all the senior leaders including party functionaries and members of the ancillary organisations of the party should keep their opinion in party forums only. Mahara warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who will continue to engage in such activities.
The letter of the state party president assumes significance in the wake of voices of dissent raised by party leaders after the recent elections of the urban local bodies in the State.
In a public meeting the Kichha MLA Tilak Raj Behed minced no words to express his anger on the state leadership of the party for the election loss in some local bodies. Similarly former PCC president Pritam Singh created a flutter when he requested the central leadership of the party to take a decision on the State leadership of the party soon.
