In an embarrassment to the State government, Vidhan Sabha speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan suspended a question related to the Agriculture department as the Minister Ganesh Joshi failed to answer a question related to natural farming during the question hour in the Assembly on Friday.
Doiwala MLA Brijbhushan Gairola asked a question on the government’s efforts to encourage natural farming in the State. In his reply, the Minister stated that natural farming is being done in 1,950 hectares of land in Pauri, Tehri, Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts of the State. He said that the State will implement the centrally funded national mission on natural farming programme in the State to encourage natural farming.
However, the minister failed to provide a satisfactory answer when the Congress MLA Bhuwan Kapdi asked the minister to inform the house about the difference between the natural farming and conventional farming. It appeared as if the minister failed to get necessary information from the officers of the department present in the gallery. The leader of opposition Yashpal Arya and other Congress members requested the speaker to suspend the question as the minister has failed to give a proper reply. Following the request, the speaker suspended the question and moved on to take the next question mentioned in the agenda.
