Nepalese travellers should have a simplified process to enter India, which will enhance relations between the two countries and promote tourism. This was stated by Uttarakhand Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj during his address at the 16th Far Western Provincial Industrial Trade Fair and Kanchanpur Tourism Festival in Mahendranagar, Nepal on Tuesday.

Maharaj stated that establishing a religious tourism circuit connecting Nepal’s Pashupatinath Mandir with India’s Kedarnath Dham, Varanasi, Haridwar and Dehradun could see a potential increase in religious tourism between the two countries.

He stated that such events could foster cooperation in agriculture and dairy production in Nepal’s Far Western Province, strengthening economic ties. He said that establishing air services between India and Nepal can potentially facilitate travel and support economic and cultural exchanges. Simplifying the entry process for Nepalese travellers into India will be an important step in this direction, he said. Several dignitaries including Nepal’s ministers attended the event.

The event featured stalls from various departments of the Nepal government, with the Uttarakhand Tourism stall drawing significant interest, as per Maharaj. Cultural programmes were also organised as part of the festival.
