Prepare proposals for division of assets of U’khand & UP: Maharaj

The State Irrigation minister Satpal Maharaj directed the Irrigation department officials to immediately prepare proposals on all the issues related to the division of assets between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand while chairing a meeting of UP and Uttarakhand irrigation department officials at the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation department guest house at Banbasa in Champawat district on Wednesday. He said that he himself would meet the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and hold talks in this regard.

During the meeting, Maharaj spoke to the UP Irrigation minister over the phone and requested for an extension of the opening time of the bridge connecting India and Nepal. He further said that the time restriction should be removed in the case of people coming from Nepal under special circumstances like health issues. He again pitched for free movement of ambulances on the bridge.   This apart, he directed the officials to open another NHPC bridge at Tanakpur for the movement of heavy vehicles.

Maharaj further directed the chief engineer of Uttar Pradesh Irrigation department to allow the construction of a jetty for boating at Nanak Sagar in Udham Singh Nagar district soon. He directed the Irrigation officials to also consider the possibilities of a pontoon bridge on the India-Nepal border Sharda barrage at Banbasa.
