In latest news from Uttarakhand, patients and their relatives were made aware of the importance of hearing care at the Government B D Pandey District Hospital here to mark the World Hearing Day. This year’s theme was to empower all to make hearing care a reality. The ENT specialist of the hospital Dr Monika Kandpal said that this day was observed to make people aware about their ears and hearing ability. “We are here to make people aware. If one has any kind of problem related to hearing he or she should immediately consult a doctor. Sharp objects should not be used to clean earwax as there is a risk of damage to the ears. Earphones should not be used too much and listening to songs at high volume should be avoided as there is a risk of hearing loss due to this. Low hearing deserves treatment, too,” she added.

Senior physician Dr Mahiman Singh Dugtal also warned against using earphones too much.  PMS Dr Tarun Kumar Tamta said that one should desist from having ears cleaned by people who roam around. Many other physicians were present on the occasion.
