Congress to start Mera Vote Mera Adhikar campaign in Uttarakhand

 PNS | DEHRADUN

The Uttarakhand Congress has decided to undertake a three month long ‘ Mera Vote Mera Adhikar’ campaign in the State. Informing about the campaign, the member of Congress working committee (CWC) Gurdip Sappal told the media persons that the Congress party will expose the conspiracy of the BJP government to deprive the people of their right to vote given by the constitution to win the elections.

He alleged that the BJP is deleting the names of those who do not believe in its ideology from the voter list and the names of outsiders are being added to the voter list. Sappal added that though people want to remove the government of hatred, unemployment and inflation, the BJP is continuously stealing the mandate by creating fake voters and deleting the names of real voters.

Giving the example of Maharashtra, where in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, the INDI alliance had got a lead in about 156 out of 288 assembly seats, but in the Vidhan Sabha elections held after some months the alliance suffered a massive defeat.

“When we investigated it, we found out that the number of votes that the Congress alliance got in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra was the same as in the assembly elections but the BJP’s votes increased by 70 lakhs because within four months 48 lakh new voters added, names of two lakhs voters were deleted and booths of about 20 lakh voters were shifted,’’ he said.

He said that in December 2024, the Congress party sought data of new and old voter lists of Maharashtra from the Election Commission of India but it has not provided it till date.

Sappal claimed that the recent elections of urban local bodies and the Kedarnath by election names of a large number of people were deleted.

He added that in the Kedarnath by- elections which the Congress lost by 4295 votes, about 10 percent new voters were added and names of five percent voters were deleted.  Sappal added that the Congress party will visit Kedarnath constituency to investigate this large-scale addition and deletion of the voters.

The Pradesh Congress Committee president Karan Mahara, leader of opposition in State assembly Yashpal Arya and former PCC president Pritam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal also attended the press conference.
