The State Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat announced plans to establish special arrangements for treating child heart patients in the State’s medical colleges in collaboration with UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre. He made this announcement while visiting the centre in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
During his visit, Rawat held discussions with the institute’s officials to gain detailed insights into its medical and administrative operations. The hospital management presented information about heart disease care, treatment services and the latest medical technologies using a PowerPoint presentation.
He praised the institute for establishing its reputation on an international scale in the field of paediatric cardiovascular care, noting that hundreds of heart patients from various countries seek treatment there annually. He stated Uttarakhand government’s intention to replicate similar paediatric heart medical facilities in the government medical colleges of Uttarakhand. “This initiative aims to ensure timely identification and treatment of heart diseases in the newborns. To take things on, a concrete action plan will be formulated with the support of the UN Mehta Institute,” he said.
Rawat also visited BJ Medical College where he interacted with specialist doctors, medical staff and students. They discussed the college’s educational framework, health facilities and ongoing innovations in the medical field. He toured the Civil Hospital, too, to review the health services provided there to the patients.
Rawat lauded Ahmedabad Civil Hospital as a leader in organ donation in India thanks to the advanced medical services it offers.
