The President Droupadi Murmu will lay the foundation stone for an ultra-modern public park at the sprawling 132-acre Rashtrapati Ashiana on Rajpur Road here on June 20 to turn this presidential estate into a public park. This significant initiative aims to enhance public engagement with Rashtrapati Ashiana while promoting green initiatives, health, and cultural activities. A meeting chaired by additional secretary Rajesh Gupta was held on Thursday at Rashtrapati Ashiana with senior officials of the Uttarakhand government to discuss the project’s development. Gupta informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being prepared, ensuring that the park is equipped with world-class amenities, innovative designs and sustainable infrastructure. Once completed, the park will be dedicated to the people of Uttarakhand.
Highlighting the vision behind this initiative, Gupta stated that it reflects the President’s commitment to participatory administration and community-driven development. The park will serve as a vibrant center for environmental conservation, fitness, and cultural activities, aligning with the aspirations of the people of Uttarakhand. He emphasised the need for concerned departments to ensure timely completion of essential infrastructure, including electricity, water supply, traffic management, parking, communication, security and public order. He urged officials to provide their suggestions for enhancing the park’s accessibility and public-friendly design, instructing them to incorporate these inputs into the DPR.
The park, located in the heart of Dehradun, will feature numerous attractions, including a multi-activity zone, cycling tracks, world-class sports facilities, a children’s play area, walking and jogging tracks, a forest-nature trail and water features. To ensure the park aligns with public expectations, citizens are invited to share their feedback and suggestions via the official Rashtrapati Bhawan website. The feedback form is available at https://rb.nic.in/ashiana until April 6, and can also be accessed through a QR code.
Additionally, Gupta reviewed the progress of the 21-acre Rashtrapati Ashiana complex, which will be opened to the public on June 20. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore facilities such as a visitor facilitation center, horse riding, an amphitheater, an art exhibition space, a cafeteria and a souvenir store. He directed officials to ensure all development work is completed within the stipulated deadlines.
