Flowers, art & local products enthral visitors at Vasantotsav

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh visited the art gallery and stalls at the Vasantotsav on the event’s second day on Saturday. The art gallery and photo exhibition had works focused on Uttarakhand’s rural and urban life, folk traditions, spirituality and natural beauty. Life in the mountains, rivers, jungles, religious places and local traditions were also depicted by painters in their works while photographs captured nature, wildlife and cultural aspects of the State.

Visiting the various stalls set up at the event, the governor viewed handicrafts, organic products, medicinal plants and other flora along with traditional products displayed there. He also bought some local products and talked to the vendors about their works. He said that one can strengthen the economy of rural areas by purchasing the local products.

Meanwhile, a considerable number of people visited Vasantotsav on Saturday. The visitors could be seen viewing the flower exhibition, folk art and stalls with local products, traditional attire and more. Singh said that Uttarakhand’s art and culture are its identity which must be preserved and encouraged by all. Stating that the youths and women of Uttarakhand have considerable skills, talent and passion, he said that the Vasantotsav provides a platform to such talent.
