Three arrested with cocaine and LSD worth lakhs in Dehradun

The police arrested three individuals in the wee hours of Monday from the Rajpur area of Dehradun for allegedly possessing 20 grammes of cocaine and seven LSD blotters, worth about Rs 15 lakh, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. In a Press conference here on Monday, he informed that the Rajpur police received confidential information about an individual transporting narcotics from western Uttar Pradesh to Dehradun. Based on this tip off, the police started a strict checking operation late on Sunday.

During the checking of vehicles in the wee hours of Monday, the police stopped a suspect on a scooter. Upon searching, police found the drugs in his possession. The SSP said, “The accused, identified as Kushagra Gupta (27), was taken into custody. Further interrogation led to the identification of two others, Vishal Chhetri (21) and Mithilesh Srivastava (19), who were later apprehended near the CSI Tiraha on Old Mussoorie Road. The police have booked all three accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.”

Singh said that during questioning, Gupta revealed that he is a resident of Majra, Patelnagar and runs a rented restaurant-café in Kandoli. He reportedly admitted to procuring narcotics from a supplier named Shivam Gupta and distributing them to students and habitual drug users for financial gain. “According to the other two accused, Gupta, who operates under multiple aliases such as Sahil, Mohit and Lucky, avoids direct involvement in deliveries and relies on intermediaries. Payments were collected in cash or through digital transactions and commissions were deducted before transferring the remaining amount to Gupta,” the SSP said. He informed that as per police investigation so far, Gupta has been engaged in drug trafficking for several years and sources his supply from different districts in western Uttar Pradesh. “The police have intensified efforts to track other accused down and dismantle the network. The investigation is ongoing,” he added.
