Fleet of 108 ambulance service kept busy by more calls on Holi

The 108 emergency ambulance service received six times more calls related to accidents on the day of Holi on Thursday and Friday compared to routine days.  The general manager (Projects) of the service, Anil Sharma said that a total of 134 calls related to accidents were registered on the festival of Holi this year. He said that on a normal day 15 to 20 calls related to accidents are received by the ambulance service. He further informed that 193 calls related to pregnancy, 22 cardiac problems and 451 other calls were received by the 108 service between March 13 and 14 across the State. Similarly 352 calls were transferred to police as they were related to it. 

The service had cancelled the leaves of its staff and had made arrangements for deployment of security personnel with every ambulance. Additional mobile teams were pressed into service for Holi in all the districts of the state.

 In Dehradun district, emergency help was provided to 202 people by the 108 ambulance service during the festival of Holi. It included 45 cases of road accidents, 22 related to pregnancy, five cardiac related cases and 135 other cases.
