BJP expels councillor, accused of minor molestation, for six years

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ RUDRAPUR
The BJP expelled the party councillor from ward no 8 of Rudrapur Municipal Corporation Shiv Kumar Gangwar against whom a case had been registered by police under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually harassing a woman and her minor daughter on the day of Holi in the Transit camp area for six years. The case was investigated by the SP crime, Niharika Tomar following which a case under the stringent POCSO Act was filed.
The BJP’s stern action followed Congress having latched on this molestation issue to aver that there was no moral character left in the saffron ranks. Along with the expulsion, the BJP leadership made it clear that law would take its own course in this matter and he would face the consequences if found guilty.
