Huge demand of dedicated & skilled healthcare providers: Governor

The governor Lieutenant General ( retd) Gurmit Singh has said that the country and the world are facing various health challenges in recent times due to which the need for the dedicated and skilled health care providers is greater than ever.

He was addressing the convocation of HNB Uttarakhand Medical Education University in Dehradun on Wednesday.

In his address, the governor exhorted the students to stay updated with the latest medical knowledge and be ready to serve humanity in every situation. “In today’s era technology is playing an important role in the medical field as well. Technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics are making the medical process more simple and accurate,’’ he said. 

On the occasion, Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated all the students and said there is no dearth of talent in Uttarakhand. He said that with the establishment of Pithoragarh and Rudrapur Medical colleges in the next one to two years, the total number of government medical colleges in the state will increase to eight. 

He said that there are 98 nursing colleges and more than 100 paramedical colleges in the State.

The Director of AIIMS Rishikesh Dr Meenu Singh, Vice Chancellor HNB Uttarakhand Medical Education University Omkar Singh, faculty heads, students and parents attended the programme.
