The proposals presented by the Uttarakhand government for future schemes will be supported by the Central government, the Union minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Virendra Kumar said. He said this while addressing the media at the conclusion of the two-day Chintan Shivir 2025 held in Dehradun on Tuesday.
Kumar expressed satisfaction at the successful Chintan Shivir. He stated that this year, approximately 34 officials from different States and 19 ministers from different States participated in the national level conference. The programme was aimed at improving coordination between the Centre and the States regarding the various schemes under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Kumar said that under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, there are two main sections- the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the Department for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. During the event, the Central government ministers provided information related to the schemes under these two departments. Additionally, State ministers and officials shared information and discussed suggestions concerning various schemes, including those related to Scheduled Tribes, sanitation workers and others. The Drug-Free Bharat initiative was also discussed during the session.
Kumar emphasised that the discussions on these schemes were significant during the event. He said that this event in Dehradun was successful, especially compared to last year’s Chintan Shivir held in Agra, where about 18 officials participated from different States. This year’s increased attendance reflected not only the Central government’s interest in these schemes but also the enthusiastic participation of State-level officials and ministers.
Kumar further highlighted that at the conclusion of the event many ministers and officials suggested extending the duration of the event to gather more information and suggestions related to the schemes. This event proved to be a milestone, as officials arrived well-prepared, bringing questions based on their experiences from last year’s event in Agra. Additionally, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami informed that the State government is actively enhancing government schemes related to beggars, transgender individuals and other vulnerable groups, he said.
