Dehradun administration to begin printing of ration cards to curb delays

The Dehradun district administration will now carry out ration card printing within its district supply offices, ending the previous arrangement of outsourcing the task to a third party. The decision comes in response to repeated delays in printing that were causing inconvenience to residents.
A proposal regarding this shift was sent to the State administration and has now been approved, the Dehradun district supply officer KK Agarwal said. He told The Pioneer that the district supply office issues about 8,000 ration cards every year and has already issued over 2,500 cards this year. He said that considering the recurring delays by the company hired for printing, who kept citing various reasons from time to time, the administration decided to set up their own machines.
The DSO stated, “We sent a proposal to have our own machines, which has been approved now. Four ration card printing machines will be set up at four zones of supply offices across the district-Dehradun, Vikasnagar, Doiwala and Rishikesh. It will ensure people get their ration cards directly from the respective offices on time without any hassle.” He added that the administration will soon receive the budget to purchase the machines
