Police instruct shops to sell security force-related items only to those with ID proof

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun
Police have issued orders prohibiting the sale of security force-related items to individuals without valid ID proof in Dehradun district. This step follows the recent incident in Pahalgam, where terrorists carried out an attack while wearing camouflage dresses akin to uniforms worn by security forces, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said.
He directed all station in-charges to identify shops in their respective areas that sell uniforms and other materials related to the army, paramilitary forces and other security agencies. Police instructed these shop owners not to sell such items to anyone without properly verifying their identity. In accordance with these instructions, police have begun identifying such shops across different police station jurisdictions, as per the SSP. He said that respective police officers are visiting these establishments and issuing warnings to the owners. They are informing shopkeepers that any violation of these directions will result in legal action, he said.
The SSP further stated that the police will continue the campaign across Dehradun to ensure compliance with these regulations aimed at preventing the misuse of security force uniforms.
