UPCL braces up for Char Dham Yatra & summer demand challenge

The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited has started bracing itself to meet the twin challenges of the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and summer season during which the demand of electricity reaches its peak.
In view of the increasing demand for electricity, the managing director of UPCL, Anil Kumar Yadav has issued necessary guidelines to all regional officers to maintain the continuity in the power supplies. He said that the officers concerned should inspect the power houses coming under their working area and monitor the load on the transformers and power lines. On a stern note, the MD has directed all officers to remain on alert mode to ensure uninterrupted power supply. He said that the officers should ensure that the voltage in the power lines remains normal and immediate action should be taken on information about any fault.
Yadav directed the chief engineer (Distribution) to prepare short-term and long-term futuristic plans should be prepared in time so that the increasing demand for power supply can be met. The MD added that no leave of any kind should be approved except in extreme circumstances.
For the convenience of the devotees coming to Char Dham Yatra, the MD said that smooth power supply in the Dhams for 24 hours should be ensured. Yadav further said that to ensure the availability of electricity in relation to the increasing demand, power is being purchased from the market at reasonable prices.
He also requested the consumers to cooperate with the corporation by saving the electricity. He said that the consumers of all categories of the State should use electrical appliances as per the need.
