Waqf board to decide on legitimacy of the Mazar in GDMC hospital: Congress

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress, Suryakant Dhasmana has said that the Congress party has no objection to the demolition of illegal structures in the State. He said that it appears that the only agenda of the BJP government is to demolish the Mazars and take action against the Madarsas.

Reacting to the late  night action of the district administration of Dehradun in which a Mazar in the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital was demolished, the Congress leader said that the party has no objection to the demolition of illegal structures. He said that the Uttarakhand Waqf Board should decide whether the Mazar in GDMC hospital was illegal or not.

Dhasmana said that the management of the Mazar was in the hands of the Uttarakhand Waqf board and earlier when the State was part of Uttar Pradesh, the UP Waqf board managed its functioning. He said that the selective action of both the union and the State government on Madarsas and Mazar clearly shows that attempts are being made to divide the society and spread hatred on communal lines.
