The leader of opposition (LoP) in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya has averred that the Congress party stands firmly with the Union government for taking sternest action on the terrorists involved in the most heinous attack on the innocent tourists in Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, and their abetters. Interacting with The Pioneer at his official residence on Monday, Arya said that the entire country is united in its resolve on action against the terrorists and terrorism.
On the other hand, he said that on the call given by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the Congress party will hold a Samvidhan Bachao rally in Rangers Ground on April 30. Arya said that efforts are being made by the ruling party to weaken the Constitution of India. The Union government is bent on degradation of all the constitutional bodies and is making use of investigation and other agencies to target and harass political opponents. He said that a large number of party leaders and workers will take part in the rally. Arya informed that the in-charge of the State Congress Kumari Selja, co-in charges Pargat Singh, Surendra Sharma, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara, former chief minister Harish Rawat, former PCC presidents Pritam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal and all senior leaders of the party will take part in rally.
Arya said that the Char Dham Yatra is soon starting but the arrangements are not complete. The government lacks a roadmap for the smooth organisation of the Yatra. On the forest fires, the Congress leader said that the State government has not taken any lesson from the past experiences. Every year forest wealth worth crores of rupees is burnt in the fires. Arya said that the fact the forest department was not able to spend the budget allotted to it last year shows the complacency that has set in the department and the apathetic attitude of its officers.
